Supporting our GPs with AI Technology
At Woosehill Medical Centre, we want our clinicians to spend as much time as possible focusing on your care.
To help with this, we now use secure AI technology – including Lexacom Scribe and Heidi – to support our GPs with writing up your consultation notes and clinical letters.
This helps reduce the time spent typing, so our GPs can spend more time listening to you.
What the tool does – and doesn’t do
- It transcribes what’s said in the consultation and helps generate draft clinical notes, letters, or referrals.
- Save GPs time on administrative tasks so they can focus more on you
- Everything created is reviewed and approved by your GP before being added to your medical record.
⚠️The AI does not make decisions about your care. Your GP always makes all clinical decisions and reviews anything created before it goes into your medical record.
Data protection & privacy
- All information is processed securely and in line with NHS data protection and UK GDPR requirements
- Temporary recordings are deleted after processing and are not used to train the AI
- Only authorised practice staff can access your information
- The data stays within secure NHS-approved systems and is handled under strict confidentiality agreements
Your choice matters
- Using AI tools is optional for you as a patient
- If you prefer your GP not to use them in your consultation, simply tell them at the start of your appointment
- This will not affect the care or treatment you receive
Why we believe this helps
- More time with your GP: less typing, more listening.
- More accurate records: reduces things being missed.
- Faster administrative follow-up (referrals/letters) so you get what you need more quickly.
- Less clinician burnout from paperwork burden
