Have you tried our Surgery Pod?
The Surgery Pod is opposite the reception in Woosehill Medical Centre, in the corner of the waiting room. Patients can perform their own checks, such as blood pressure, height, weight, alcohol usage, etc., without clinical supervision. These are then instantaneously updated into their patient records and can be viewed by members of the health team.
What is a Surgery Pod?
The Surgery Pod is a secure computer system that accurately records patient data. It is not a replacement for your doctor or nurse but an additional resource for the surgery.
What are the benefits to the patients?
The Surgery Pod allows you to perform simple checks at your own convenience without making an appointment. It is available to use between 9am and 4pm. You may wish to take your blood pressure before you go to see the doctor or nurse so they already have this key information before your consultation, giving you more time to discuss your health.
What checks can you do using the Surgery Pod:
- Take your blood pressure
- Take your height, weight, and calculate your BMI
- Enter information regarding your lifestyle, i.e., smoking, alcohol, exercise, and diet.
How does it work?
You interact with a touchscreen computer to guide you through the process. After entering your name and date of birth, follow the easy step by step instructions. Here is the typical process you will go through:
- Enter your name and date of birth
- Select your check, e.g., ‘blood pressure check.’
- Follow the on-screen instructions
After you complete the check, please press the green button. Your results will be automatically saved to your patient record.
Who can use it?
Every patient. You don’t have to use the Surgery Pod – but regardless of your technical knowledge, you can easily use it, allowing us to keep better track of your latest readings.
Our reception team is always there to help.
