We want to remind parents and carers about the importance of keeping children and young people safe online.
Many children and teenagers use social media, messaging apps, and online communities every day. While these can be positive and helpful, there are also risks. It is important for parents and carers to be aware of online activity and to talk openly with their children about staying safe.
What parents and carers can do
- Talk regularly with your child about their online activity
- Make sure privacy settings are enabled on social media accounts
- Encourage your child not to share personal information online
- Remind them not to accept messages or requests from people they do not know
- Encourage them to speak to a trusted adult if something makes them feel uncomfortable
