Patient Access Repeat Prescriptions

You will be able to view your current repeat prescription/s and tick the appropriate box/es to make your request. Once you do this a status report will pop up as “Requested”. As soon as your GP has agreed and signed off your request this status will change to “Accepted”.  If your GP has not authorised your request the status will change to “Refused” and you will need to contact the Surgery.

Controlled Drugs If your prescription includes contolled drugs you will not see the accepted status show on your request. Any other items will be electronically forwarded but this will not show on your prescription page.  Controlled drugs are extracted to be signed by the doctor on a paper prescription. Once physically signed by the doctor the prescription will be forwarded to your designated pharmacy (if you have chosen one) or will be available at the surgery for collection

You will need to allow at least 2 clear working days prior to collection from either the surgery or nominated pharmacy.

We regret that it is not possible to email you by return to confirm you prescription request nor send you a message via SMS text.

Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is an NHS service which allows your GP to send your prescription request electronically to the pharmacy of your choice for collection , which means you will no longer need to go to the surgery to collect your prescription.

If you are happy to collect your prescription from the surgery you do not need to do anything else.

If you would like to collect your prescription directly from a pharmacy offering this service, you will need to visit your preferred pharmacy and ask them to set this up for you. This is a very quick and easy process.

Most pharmacies give two options for collection:-

1.  Once the pharmacy has received your repeat prescription from the surgery it will be ready for dispensing. (You will not need to go to the surgery to collect your prescription.)

2.  The pharmacy will make the request on your behalf to the surgery for your repeat prescription and on receipt will have it ready for dispensing. (You do not need to go to the surgery to drop off or collect your prescription) .   IMPORTANT – This arrangement is only suitable if you have a stable condition and you normally request all medication on your prescription at the same time.

You may receive marketing literature from companies offering home delivery services.  They offer an alternative option for patients and are marketed independently from the GP Practise.

ARE YOU AWARE? IF YOU ARE TAKING MANY MEDICATIONS, MOST PHARMACIES WILL DISPENSE THESE INTO A WEEKLY/MONTHLY DISPENSING BOX IF REQUESTED.
